I had little hope of cleaning this button I found in the abandoned orchard

It is an iron button that was pretty crusty with surface pinholes in it, as can be seen in the before and after photos below. However, I could see through the crust that there was some sort of design on it and was hoping to see what it was. After soaking it all night in GoJo, I was able to knock the rust off. It has a design on it that looks sorta like a swastika, but I don't think it is.
I'm not sure cleaning it really revealed any more detail.

The lines aren't connected in the center. Almost looks like a crude number 55 on it. Orchard worker's number?

To me those incised lines were post-manufacture, so just someone scratching a design for some unknown reason.

I thought SS too, but both S's look to be only 4 of the 5 lines needed to form an S.

I think it's a faux woven leather button. These are real leather.
