I HATE COLD WEATHER!

Man I feel for y'all but I do enjoy these posts. For once, the rest of the nation is havin a worse winter than we are here at 10,000 ft. in the Rockies! Of course, we got plenty of snow, but it hasn't gotten below zero many times. One morning, it was actually colder down in Jackson Mississippi where my niece lives than it was here! Y'all take care drivin, maybe go down to walmart and invest in some heat tape, and keep a close eye on the antifreeze level in your vehicle, and a bottle of that 'Heet' might be a good idea for the gas tank.

Waiting to hear from that stupid woodchuck!!
Got lucky so far, no busted pipes yet! Minus three here in Pittsburgh today, burrrrrr. Maybe I will clean my machine and take inventory in order to be ready for Spring. OK, you caught me as I have already done it three times this week and it is only Tuesday. If anyone has any connections please make Spring come early!

Lots of black ice here this morning and 18 degrees. I don't know which is worse 18* or 108 ( last summer).

remember the hot water pipes will freeze before the cold water pipes

That woodchuck doesn't know how lucky he is the ground is frozen! I'd be digging him out and having a conversation about spring right about now!

I think I'll just go stare at the calendar, the August page with...palm trees and sunny beaches...and WARM WEATHER!!!!
Sorry, I lost it there for a minute.

was -13 here lastnight and am bored to death so what did I do ? 1 went to the local salvage yard when they opened up at 9am.I armed Myself with my torxs and philips tools so I could salvage some parts for ebay..Now what could I possibly want using those kinds a tools? anyone is free to guess

The high temp for where I live yesterday was 68. Today was 30, Right now I'ts 25 and sleeting pretty hard. There's probably "1 of sleet covering my back deck. I'ts suppose to change over to snow later this evening. I think the last time this happened was in the early '80s. Now the weather guys are saying that after this blows off the coast, the low temp for tomorrow is 9 degrees. HOLY S***! I don't think my pipes can stand another freeze! Anyways, I've got a space heater going in the storage room where my pipes are kinda exposed, and I'm going to leave my faucets dripping on good advice from you guys.Hats off to you folks that are used to this crap! 002.webp

For bc1969. That "cold weather killing the bugs". We had 30 days here about 10 yrs. ago that it didn't get above freezing. I saw no decline in the number of skeeters, chiggers & ticks the next spring.. Oh yea, zero here this a.m. w/ high of 24. We were lucky. We had sun and no wind. I don't know how you people up north stand this. I spent a lifetime one winter in Sioux City, IA.

Got into it w/ my fleet mechanic today, my a/c not blowing cold.

I can fix that! I got some snow I'll give you for free, just pay shipping! Maybe the polar vortex will swing a little further south so you won't need that AC!

I dig in 12 degree all the time hills man hills

There are some great benefits to us outdoor folks no matter which hobby you enjoy, this severe cold will really effect the annoying/dangerous pests that attack us, be it les less ticks and chiggers, spiders or whatever else you can think of that wants you served up buffet style heh.
I am thankful for the cold for that benefit.

Mike
Very good point

9 degree low this morning at my house...
Hopefully it will stay above freezing for more the a couple hours today ,We been stuck at home since Tuesday..
(Snow Jam 2014) It's been crazy here about 20 miles N of Atlanta.
The Weather People are calling for highs in the 60's this weekend but with a chance of rain
so I hope to get out to detect for a while ( to get the want to MD bug out) ..
Man I true-ly Feel for all yall folks up North But as I said before " No one else is digging relics either at this time"
Davers

Does anyone detect in this weather? I had success last weekend and going out this weekend. I found a wheat and weird stuff if you want to check out the hunt and where click on the link.

I have a friend in Hull, GA I need to call and check on.

BC1969- You know it's a heat wave when your above 0 by double digits!!!

Dandut46-you need to ask? If I can get a digging tool in the ground I'm digging!!! ......I've been informed a backhoe and a flame thrower are not "standard" MD'ing equipment, then again it depends on "where" your MD'ing! Right?

Right on I'm thinking river hunt this weekend

Got the same forecast for my area Davers, I was kinda hoping to log some hours relic hunting with my new machine before the rain sets in.

Love the vid! At least in those conditions, you don't have to worry about stepping over a fallen tree right on top of a cottonmouth or a copperhead!

What else can I say?

Yep that was a rough one. 2 days of pure cold hell. I put salt on the driveway. Preparation is key to surviving a Florida winter.
