Hi, I have a Ray Jefferson Treasurer. I was going to sell it, but I have decided I'd like to keep it if I can get it to work. I put a battery in it and when I push the battery button the needle moves. That is all it will do. Someone in this forum found one of these quite a while ago. I can't find a manual online. I was hoping for instructions that would tell me what to do. Any suggestions?

That's quit an antique (circa late 1960's -ish?) Very much a dinasour by today's standards. You may find someone who'd collect it for nostalgia sake, but that's about all. If it needs repair, it might not be worth the $$ it would take to get it running right.

Can you post a photo of the controls? If you decide to get rid of it, I collect vintage detectors.

I figured out how to reply to this thread. Yea!
Here are some pics of the Ray Jefferson metal/mineral detector.

The 2nd knob appears to be sensitivity (set it maybe half-way to start), so I'll assume the 1st knob is volume or tuning. If it's volume, just turn it on and it should detect metal. If it's tuning, you will need to adjust the tuning until you get a threshold tone, then it should detect metal. This is an early-mid 70's detector and the company is long gone, but it should be very straightforward to operate.
