One of the first rules of MD'ing I remember reading on here was to keep hunting all the way back to your vehicle. Today that paid off for me as I was on my way back to the truck, I got a quarter sound about 15 ft from from the cab door. As I was digging the plug I was thinking that a quarter on my last plug was a good way to end the day, but much to my surprise I got dug my first precious metal ring. It is silver, not gold, but it is huge and heavy and marked .925, so I am happy............it must weigh nearly as much as a quarter. I didn't get any other silver coins today, just a wheatie I can't get a date off of yet and some clad, but the silver ring did make it a good day. Thanks to all who keep posting their tricks on here and don't stop with them.

You're right about the knowledge on this site. I've picked up quite a few tips here as well. The "keep the coil to the ground" on the way back to your car tip has worked out well a few times for me also. Congrats on your first silver ring.

Sweet man, yeah I've found a wheatie and a franklin half detecting on the way back to my car, so never stop swinging

Congrats on the ring. I always swing on my way back to the car. Its kinda like the lottery. You can't win if ya don't play. WTG

I found my little gold ring the other day in a similar fashion. I just got a low battery signal on my prizm IV. As I was walking back to the car to change batteries ( I always keep an extra set in my detector bag) I got the "solid nickel" signal about 2 feet from an asphalt path in front of the parking lot!

I picked off a silver quarter at 8" right on the edge of a parking lot.It pays to keep swinging all the way to your vehicle.
