Yes appears to be an insert from a small picture frame, soldiers carried these in the civil war...not sure of the provenance or backstory on where you dug it but cool relic nonetheless!

Care to share.Well I thank you all... I believe I found exactly what it is .. a buddy of mine had this from his great-great-grandmother from the mid 1800s
