oops my bad. i haven't ever sold 40%ers for melt value. why do they not want to pay melt value for them? Not really. The 40%'er is worth $4.11 and the a 90% quarter is worth $5.02. Selling a 90% quarter, you have a better chance of getting melt. Good luck getting melt for a 40%'er.
Being only 40% silver, they just aren't as desirable. Costs more to refine them also. Back in the day we tossed 'em back.oops my bad. i haven't ever sold 40%ers for melt value. why do they not want to pay melt value for them?

Would the key dates be business strikes, or proofs of these ATB quarters?I hate to give out wrong information, but the premise is the same. The clad ATB San Fran quarters will be the key the series if not the entire Washington series including the silver issues. El Yunque had an approx. 600k mintage. Chaco Canyon is currently at 480k mintage.

business strikes. I don't have the exact mintage figures of proofs (both clad and silver), but they are easily in the millions. The potential to find these S-mint clad business strike coins is a very real possibility as some of the lesser quality are discarded.
Let me clarify. I meant that it would be nice if the odds if finding silver quarters were higher.rex said:there silver content makes them worth as much as 40% halves.
Wow, thanks for the quick reply. I want you to find some gold on the beach Today Diver_Down - how does that sound?
