I know what's worse than being skunked.

I had to take care of some business in an area that I happened to be researching. So, I took the detector with me, (of course!).

I only had a couple hours of daylight so I thought I'd try walking the shoreline that I knew used to have a popular beach at one time. (Not really geared toward getting wet, not yet anyway. )

After about an hour of the most boring detecting I have ever done, I came up with the following:

Now, I used to fish a LOT!! But, I'm not familiar with this type of lead weight. Anyone?

(I know, some would say that's NOT being skunked. )

But that wasn't what made me feel this way.

I had a secondary spot I wanted to check out. Looked to be a very promising, sports type field.

Trouble is, when I went over the posted rules of the park.

I read the following which was excerpted from the sign.

This is what I was trying to warn about some months ago. We all need to spread the 'good name' of detecting, far too many making a bad impression, so we need to equal it out a little. We were recently invited by a Town Council (we have been given sole rights to all their land) to detect their Cricket Pitch, we would have never have asked such a dumb question but they are keen to find out our results.

Keep watching TV shows about it and they will keep making those shows...

Obnoxious, sensationalized, fake TV shows that attract the type of people that WANT to emulate the douchebags they see on those shows.

And this will keep happening.

In COMPLETE agreement here. I can only HOPE it's not a trend. I planned on spending the rest of my life doing little else.

My Mom sure did'nt think so,had to strip my clothes off before I could go in the house,then she burned them,boy,was she pissed,me,all i did was stink!
