I was driving around and decided to hit up my local goodwill store. I cursed thru the isles and nothing jumped out at me till I peeked in the jewelry case. I see 8 silver looking goblets (just like the 6 that I found last year that were stamped sterling). I asked to open the case and I seen that the goblets were marked $10 each. Well I didn't see the words sterling or NS or plate or any other combination like that but it did have a makers mark and said "silver" so I took a chance....
Well I have been meaning to get internet on my cell phone, man that would of come in handy because when I got home I looked up the company and dang if it wasn't silver plate over copper... Live and learn I guess, I just didn't want to buy one then run home to find it was in fact silver then run back and the rest would be gone - greed got the better of me and now I have 8 plated goblets. I was thinking of smashing them or use as targets on the range but I think I will keep them as a reminder that wanting something to be something isn't enough and especially when it isn't stamped with 925, 980, plat, sterling, 14k, 18k, ect. (I know not all things are stamped but that $80 could of went towards something else.
I see the same goblets selling on ebay for $8-$12 each, I could make my money back but all's I seen was $1,000+ in sterling sitting on the shelf.
