I do admin on another forum and this got posted. It was intended as a joke, however, one of the women members reported it as innapropriate.

I just took it at face value that the guy spent his last $500 of savings on a metal detector and all he can afford to give as a valentine's day gift is a lollypop which will go over like a lead balloon.

This woman was reading all kinds of sexual innuendos into it.

So ladies what say you?

That is a awesome Valentine funny for a detecting board - and while I have seen many pics showing "sexual" portrayals w/ lollipops, this is not one of them.

She has a naughty streak between her earrings, and no sense of humor. JMHO

My son and grandson have posted this same meme only it’s a fishing pole instead of a metal detector. It’s a joke. The woman is reading way too much into it. IMO.

Yeah, same here, it's just funny, nothing more too it. Of course, for me, it would be the opposite way ... hubs would get the lollipop end of the deal! Some people have no humor anymore

Valentines Day is a fake holiday conjured up by the greeting card companies. The companies say jump and the majority of the responsibility falls on the men.
If I sound like a bummer I also don't like where corporate's have taking over Christmas, Mothers/Fathers Day, and any birthday that expects a re-mortgage to buy the next Big Thing.
I remember a movie "Running On Empty" about a family on the run from the law. They had been on the road for years. Their celebration of birthdays was the giver of a gift had to either find it or make it. Never buy it. I know a tad extreme but there was a lesson on how we become manipulated by corporates selling mostly junk.
It's good to show affection in a family but the expectation of replacing affection with gifts that keep growing bigger seems to miss the point.
Maybe I'm alone in this.
