I jumped the gun and hit a suspected good colonial area to hunt coins,first time to try this new spot that is wooded.So i took the golden umax with a 12x10 DD coil.I was about a football field from a church built in 1698 and the golden hit this brass belt buckle,and a small round shot in all metal.Going to go back when it gets cooler only because i got a tick on you know were.This is the second time now.Anyway,just signed up to forum to chat.Well let me figure out how to attach a picture of the buckle and will.

Ok,I am trying to post picture of buckle.Any input on type of buckle or age.I just was not expecting to hit a relic with the golden,because i was running in wide notch,because i was near the road side with more trash,but it hit on good hi tone.

This last spring, right when the warm weather hit here in Colorado Springs, my family and I went to Lowes to get some stuff for the garden. A little while after we got back home I got a real bad itch on my back and found I had picked up a tick at the store. It was a dog tick and it left a huge hole when my wife pulled it out. I hate ticks, and by the way, I hate those stupid chiggers too!

Well the first one was last year relic hunting.Wait,before i continue.The area i am in and live near was settled in the late 1600s.The colony thrived for about 100 years but the mosquitos spread disease that killed.The worst poisonous snakes in the New World and still today.Swampy living conditions.The Indians would invade them and almost wiped out the population entirely.So after 100 years of this they packed up,gave the land to the slaves and left the slaves behind.So back to the first tick. I cut out of you know with a razor blade.So i think i like the duct tape idea.Sorry,i know i can not spell,or type,but the phone just puts in the word,and i miss it.Ok i am a dumb southern boy,who cares,i still try to hang with the proper know it all's.That's all that matters right.

Buy a tick key for future use, sounds like you need one. Get some Deet for the skin and Permethrin gear spray for your boots and pants.

What is a tick key.I am about to get the Outlaw rigged and go right now.I am going to find some good stuff around the perimiter of this church.Not far from this area i found a 1701 colonial coin with a Vaquero.But it is still not the right weather yet,lots of poisonous snakes.What is a tick key?

A tick key is a tool that allows you to remove a latched on tick entirely and safely. Google it. You can buy them online or at outdoor stores like REI. Costs about $6.

SpirtRelic, you should list the detectors you use in your profile too. Get that Tick Key and Old Ben's bug lotion as it is 100% Deet.

Thanks for the tips.I like the tick key idea because the head of the tick can break and stay.I will have to update my profile when i figure it out.Can't wait for a frost.Got chased by a pretty large snake last spring so i am going to try out the jvc gummy earbuds in the woods.They are good earbuds,i used them before.I just put the cord under my shirt so not to snag. :-)

I went back with the Outlaw and had a whole page typed about the hunt and the detector and went to attach the pics and it deleted or something.The audio,the true no motion,detune target pinpoint,run in all metal,switch right to check target in disc,it was great.Just found a ring,don't know if its old,cheap,who knows.I learned some stuff on the Outlaw today.Sorry if pics are bad.

Well i don't hunt much in the summer even up here in northern Ohio......... Don't like bugs or heat...My season is just about in when the bugs are gone and the leaves are off the trees and the weeds are dead so i can see......... I will be out at the old cellar holes and foundations again.......... get my little back hoe and my little bulldozer and go to work.. and when i say little i really mean small but they do what i want....................And i can get them in and out of the woods with my 4 wheeler... my time of year no bugs and no weeds..

I also have a Tejon.Used to have a Vaquero,which thinking of a new one to share coils with the tejon.I really like tesoro.Yeah,this morning i can feel some chiggers got me.Pulled two ticks,so i am not going back in wooded areas until first frost.

I cleaned the ring and it is for sure antique with hand crafted marks.Scanned the ring with the Golden umax and got a high silver tone. :-!
