I put my hand on the dirt and the earth moved underneath it.

I placed my hand down on the dirt to brace myself and reach out to pull a few weeds in the garden. Right where I put my hand the dirt underneath starts to push up. It startled me a bit.

I was making a raised bed in the garden for carrots.
I just finished roto tilling it and was removing some small sticks and rocks.
There sat a toad looking at me unharmed.
One lucky toad.
I have a toad house in the Hostas and fern garden bed.
Toads are cool.

I once was setting a mole trap (jaw type) and was digging a little dirt from the run.
Inadvertently grabbing a mole by back legs! I was startled.
