I was able to get out for an hour this evening after work to a new field with potential. This field is next to another field where I had found over 100 musket balls but this is the first time the grass has been cut. I didn't have a lot of time so I concentrated on a small area. First target was something I haven't found until now...a musket flint (and it's a big one)! The only reason I found it was the the lead wrap was still around it. Only other finds were a couple musket balls and scrap...but I'll be going back!

Great find! I wish I saw more flints posted here.
Is this one Buckleboy, found it a couple of years ago, on a ploughed field.
Robert.

Cheers Cru, by the look of it, I would guess it's not been used.

I thought the same, very cool example, excellent eyes only

Love the old flints romeo-1 . . . sure hope they didn't loose them while trying to get off a shot in self defence! Now all you need to do is find the flintlock mechanism and you're half way to restoring your 18th century musket. :D

got a nice piece of flint like that in Dirtyville but wasn't lead wrap...sure it fell off long ago...

Great find there buddy and a welcome addition to any growing collection.

I think it has 'growed' enough.

No finds for you! (just lead balls)

I'm due you'll see :sign13: :sign13: :sign13: but could dig them lead balls all day... :icon_pirat:

That's pretty cool! I've found a couple trigger guards, something like that would make my day! :icon_thumright:

Made my day! Nice to be able to get a decent keeper on the first target...takes the pressure off!

I hate a good start, its the kiss of death over here, much rather slow & build up. Just different ways of thinking I guess. We always rib each other if we get a good first target & it always ends up the same - poor rest of the day :tongue3:

have to agree with you on this one.... had many good starts and bad endings but also had bad starts and great ending....

Nice gun flint Rome, found one myself a few years ago.

Took me many years to find one. Either I don't have an eye for it, or am not paying enough attention.

There not easy to spot, I just got lucky, was out looking for arrowheads and happen to notice it. May never get another one, but hey I got one. :icon_thumright:
