Back to the field with the 1758 Würtemberg silver and lots of buttons I got an iffy signal and dug what I first thought was a very deep button.
Back home washing things off I noticed a silverish rim and took the dirt-laden object along to a hunt with a friend who has more experience and gave me some advice on cleaning.
After carefully soaking and cleaning off dirt with a toothpick more and more silver came out underneath the dirt crust.
From what I could read I can distinguish "PIVS ANT ONINVS" and "PAX AVG TRYX X
??"
Weight between 3 and 4 grams.
I believe it might be a roman silver denarius from Antoninus around AD 138 , I would appreciate if anyone knows more about this coin.
Too bad its probably a late roman denarius with only 80% or so silver content but well, i can´t complain this year the romans are treating me better...
Besides, if it has been in the ground for almost 1800 years it probably has the right to be a bit crusty...
I tried to take pictures in different angles so that all features would be visible:
