Went exploring my new permission. The one from that last honorable mention? (Thanks for all the encouragement!)

Anyway, I chose to do several different sections of this place. A smattering of different histories. Modern to ancient. It seemed to hold up pretty well! I'll let you be the judge.

Pretty wide variety.

The kids seem pretty happy. Blingie? Not so much. :dontknow:

Then, on the last area, and OTWBTTC, of course.
I got one of *those* signals. A surprisingly stable signal around 88-89, showing as deep.

I slowed down my plug and after toiling in the 90 degree heat, this showed itself:

I was rather surprised because I always thought the moisture made targets easier. This ground was bone dust hard! This find impressed me even more with AT!

This is what I'm starting out with, will be a long slow cleaning!

Just starting but enough to identify and make me as happy as the kids.

That looks like a great permission, I would say take your time and digevery single signal you can dig up, but I'm sure you're well aware of that LOL , great find!

Update on large cent

Well folks, after ruining many old coppers by trying to clean, this is as far as I'm going to go.

Just thought some might want to see.

Thanks! I've seen far too many old coppers get wasted due to attempts to clean. This is just fine by me.

Wise decision it looks great where it is. BTW I’ve had some success in the past with dry and slightly pitted Large Cents by holding them and rubbing them in my hand for a few days. The natural oils in the skin seem to return some of the natural toning. I would not do this with a rare specimen or silver coins of course.
