Hello all. I live in NY State Im new to the forum and this is my first post. I posted this on my facebook metal detecting group and no one can ID it. So here it is and heres what I wrote on my facebook post.

So I thought I found my first bust quarter today. When this thing rolled out the hole I froze up and I think I stopped breathing. Can anyone please give me an approximate date this was made. It' looks like a struck silvered us infantry button. But the actually button itself has a cast seam. It looks like it says something at the bottom under the eagle. I found it about 20 minutes south drive from my village. (Pulaski) don't want to say where. Sorry. I'll post the wrap up when I finish dinner. Was hopeing for info on this button while I eat. Thanks allot!

Need ID please. The letters on the bottom are hard to read. Looks like it says B E S T ???? I just Don't know and that's an odd phrase for this button I think.

Looks to be a War of 1812 infantry officer's button (1812-1815). Definitely a nice find!

Here's a non-dug example for comparison:

Nice button. Yours is in great shape. I concur with War of 1812 Infantry button. I have seen some, but the condition of yours is great.

just like the other example, yours says REGt at the bottom (for regiment) but your's was enough off center to cut some of the lettering off. Very cool find!

Awesome Militia Button you got there , I love to dig anything from that time-period.
