I thought I had found the "Holy Grail"
Found a small park on an obscure lake in the middle of Florida. Talked my wife into stopping and trying it out. She hit the tot lot and I went to the beach. Dug some clad and a couple of sinkers when I got a nice strong signal that sounded good. I dug about 4" in the muddy sand and a gold coin popped out with a distinctive old Spanish look. 'Oh my God', I hit the proverbial 'Holy Grail' of coin shooting! I jumped up and down and ran to show my wife. On the way I rubbed more dirt off to reveal Latin writing. Heart pounding, something didn't add up. It was too light and there was some corrosion - gold doesn't corrode.
By the time I got to where my wife was I had realized that the cruel hand of fickle fate has touched me once again. It's a fake! (can I say that PBK?) Who would do that? Dispair had set in but I was still excited about my find.
Sometimes, the best things we bring back from a hunt is a 'good story'. This will make a good one until the cruel hand of fickle fate touches me again.
