I found this axe head last year at a house that date's from the mid 1700's and was lived in until the 1960's. Does anybody know the type of axe head it is and is there a way it can be dated.

Hard to date exactly but made by blacksmith by wrapping the main part around a mandrel and then hammer welding the blade between its ends, a common method of axe making up until the machine age. The design looks old, to me 1700s or earlier.
