Got out to a field that's yielded relics mostly from late 1700s to mid 1900s. It's a little over an inch long and about 3/4" wide. It's either brass or copper. The back has two prongs, and what I think is some of the original leather or other material. There are no markings. Any ideas what it could have been used for, or its age? Thanks for any help you can provide!

Looks like a harness strap decoration. There has been some debate about them being strap ends, but I think they were purely decorative.
