Without marks or stampings, a generic flintlock trigger guard. I think the two end extensions where the mounting holes for screws would be are broken off. Also, it looks as if it was somehow straightened out a bit.

Because of how fancy it is with swoops and curls, I would say a flintlock or early caplock rifle, with a date range of what NOLA Ken said.

This is a picture of a fowler (muzzleloading shotgun) as you can see, the trigger guard is much simpler, which makes me think yours is a rifle
