All Treasure Hunting
I was in Ocean City, MD for 2 weeks in July. I'm a novice metal detector (started in April), and tried my hand at finding treasure on the beach.

During my hunting, I found a copper coin. The coin is VERY worn, smaller than a penny (roughly the size of a dime). I cannot make out anything on the coin, but I did find other pennies that were badly worn...and they didn't look like this...

I've attached 3 pictures, with a penny and dime to compare. I also took a picture of the edge of the coin. It almost looks like two pieces of metal sandwiched together based on the groove that I see around the edge. This leads me to suspect that it's just a penny. This contradicts my earlier statements, so I'm at a loss! ha ha!

I hope that you'll take a look, and let me know what you think.

Thanks in advance!

It is Possible it is a copper cent.My grandkid use to dig up my coin garden and some looked just like that and It has been there for about 20 years...Hope this helps

Is there a way to test this? I'd say that's my suspicion, but I can't make out anything on it and it's smaller than a Zincoln.

Thanks!

When they start to crumble, they can get to be any size.
