I quite agree with Unicorn, they are hinges made to raise and lower during opening and closing.

no... I'm in the middle of Texas

The right side of the thing looks broken or cut... not a wire but its a part of the thing

Not a rising hinge.The pin comes out like a regular door. I have installed them before. This pin looks trapped for some reason. Is it cast metal or steel? Looks like cast ?
