Ideas?????

Look this is about things I don't normaly post cause they are not that eye appealing.But I often save things I find from my older sites to look up later and learn from as to how old a site might be or any other stuff I can learn from the pieces that might not be so special for a post.As I do this I find matches to things found at other sites on the internet.With out digging through these objects I picked one from my last find just the other day and another that was just on top of the pile.As I continue to look these pieces up and find matches of things simular I have to wonder about how long these types things were used and if it is possible for some parts of history to be over looked or not documented if they are not used that long.Over time I find things like this metal,glass,ceramic,earthnware, and other objects that are dated from things not known to be in this area during those time lines.So I just have to wonder if this stuff is just close or were they used longer then spoke of or is it possible that somethings might not have been documented as such.Maybe over looked somehow.From my time in it I feel like some of these places here are of people not known to be here if you go buy what you read!Here is the site about these pieces.http://www.preservationvirginia.org/rediscovery/page.php?page_id=68

I love em timekiller! I'm doing the same with my shards, though I never considered incorporating them in planters. This is a case where the whole is greater than the parts! Nice.

Thanks johnnyi,It's just seems like sometimes you don't know what you are dealing with.There are only two of these site i have found that raise this question for me as there are alot of items in those pots that match things i see they say are old and from sites like jamestown.If so why are they not spoke of here?

I do cru,just the sota thing I'm talking about.Sad though one of these places is already a place I can only do something with on a good low tide,the other is already half gone to the river also.So knowing that and how fast it is washing away I'd say in a year or two now there won't be nothing left.Taken by the water and time.See I'm not the only timekiller! :laughing9:

Agreed, that is a prime location for the glass shards! They look comfortable resting there. You have convinced me to pick 'em up and deposit them in similar planters.

Little off the subject but great idea on what could be done with them.My tank is 150gal. and I have some of my raw gem stones from the mountians in it.I need to clean the glass but this is it.Some of the fish in it I have had for 9 years now. I need to finish the scroll work I was doing on the doors.Stand homemade!

I do the same thing and safe pretty much all the glass and pottery i can carry.

My plan is to use it on a future home. I have this idea to use the glass/earthenware and such as a tile mosaic in a bathroom or a kitchen backsplash. Of course i would only do this in a house where it would fit the theme.

It would make a great conversation piece to a home to display early colonial pottery shards and glass and add some intresting history to it!

great ideas i love all the pic. i am a landscaper and i am always looking for a way to make mine look different than all the traditional plantings i deal with during my wk hours..

love the fish tank too.. :icon_thumright:
