Can anyone tell me or show me a pic of what a cob looks like when it is found on the beach, before any cleaning?

I found a piece in the rough shape of a large coin that looks like an iron fragment but my Whites Beachhunter detector shows it as "rings."

Which is why many of us learn to go off a detectors tones rather than it's screen. Someone will help you shortly i'm guessing, but don't put too much faith in screens.

Skanaman,
Welcome to Treasure Net !!
Cobs, due to their method of production, can be found in a variety of shapes, weights and color. To find two identical would highly suggest that one or both are relicas or fakes. Sea water submerged cobs can look like a variety of other things. For example, some may look like well baked, round brownie cookies (called 'brownies' by some), while others may appear nearly as thin as razor blades; called 'Gillettes' for the obvious reason.

Ha Ha ;D Thats funny... IP's crystal ball says no cob. Now I know how you make the tough coin ID's.

I agree with IPs crystal ball. Not a cob. But for the rest of us, we need a picture.
