Look at this idiot, the movie had to be made in the 70's, he is just pounding away at this 100 shell with a hammer and screwdriver. oh yea DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME

I think Idiot might be a bit harsh in this case.

Tom Dickey is a well know relic hunter. Any man that can do the research to find and
disarm that many shells knows what he's doing. I'm not saying run out and do this yourself,
but he knew what he was doing. As far as I'm concerned he's a legend in the relic hunting
community.

I know who he is, but in his period of time you could just walk in any random field almost and basically pick up relics off the ground, and if they were buried they were not very deep.

This might be one of those things where, "If you don't have anything good to say about someone, then stay quiet."

Tom Dickey is a pioneer in relic hunting. He knew exactly what he was doing. From what I understand, he trained in the Army in the explosives field. I would doubt he was an idiot. He is simply disarming this shell so that part of the history will still live. If this were giving to local Law Enforcement, the shell would be exploded, therefore killing history.

He also gives a discretion at the end of the video.

Tom Dicky forgot more about civil war relics and especially artillery than all of us on here know combined. He found and disarmed literrally 1000's of shells in his lifetime. You might want to temperance your comments a bit until you actually know who you're talking about...by no means an idiot.

I would of thought that one spark from that screwdriver while scratching that shell would set it off Black powder is not the most stable of gunpowder, its fine once it is wet. But he is knocking steel on steel. But as you guys have said he knows what he is doing......

Maybe not a Idiot but Damn if i am going to beat on a 100 pound shell with a hammer. I do not care if this guy is god to the relic hunting world this is not a bright thing to do and if you try it and get blown to he!! then the world would be short one more Idiot.
