I think just because they are out of circulation, and alot of people dont know that "some" banks will order them for you. But you are right, I went to the bank looking for large dollars and the lady told me they had 75 of them, which turned out to be Ikes, but i ended up selliing 50 of them for about 75 bucks...Plus i did it behind Ebays back, and gave the guy free shipping..no fees..or it wouldnt even be worth.

I would get them..at least they are always face value..Plus you might find some silver in them

Well i have a good relationship with my chase bank tellers. they will order them from other banks that have them for me. Lots of donuts and coffee have led to this. But if i can make a few bucks from that, its worth it to me.

Order them and use them as dollars, I want to find a bank that'll do this. I'd just set aside the $1000, and use it for lunch expenses, coffee, give them to people who give me stuff for free. The odds of finding a 40% Ike dollar, are very hard, I've gotten over $150 worth the past several months, and man oh man, ain't one 40%. Homies, ikes are the only clad I like.

I cashed a check today, and bought $100 worth of dimes, nothing good there. The teller said she had $20 in Ike dollars and wanted to know if I wanted them. The real answer was no, but I took them. Question: Is this a true double die? 1976 Philadelphia dollar1.webpdollar2.webp

I had this one spent as cash at my register a while ago.

Dawg I wish I could search Ikes

I had a bank that called ahead to the coin service, and they said they had $50 in Ikes. They told the branch to tack that onto my halves order. When they arrived they were two $25 rolls of presidential gold dollars. I was very disappointed.

Well I was selling them as sets of 5 orginally, and he asked how many I had, and made me an offer for the 50. Which I told him I would do, but couldnt do it on ebay because of the high fees. I have a 100 percent feedback rating for my sales, So he said that was fine. So i removed my listing And when he paid me thru PayPal, he did it as a "Gift" So no fees ever occured.

Ive acutally done this many of times, Of course its not safe on thier end, but I am an honest man, and the last thing I want to do is Give Feebay or Paypal any more of my money..I have been screwed over by them many of times, and not just fees, but by them lockign my account for a month or 2 because i made more than 500 in a week, and it seemed "Suspicous" to them

Where do these people on eBay who sell lots of $100 in Ikes every day get their coins from? I can't find any banks that will order me the $1000 bag of Ikes, and it takes me months to find enough for a $100 lot.

Let's see. You have a listing on ebay. You use their services. then ... you get a buyer, you remove your listing, and you sell it to them without paying ebay for securing the buyer for you, which they DID. And you follow that up with the sentence "I am an honest man"? You ripped off ebay for their fees and then say you are honest? LOLOLOL. Granted, you can sell with ebay or you can sell without ebay, but if you DO USE ebay, and then stop the auction early in order to sell to THEIR client WITHOUT paying them ... you are NOT an honest man. Sorry. Stealing legitimate fees from someone to increase your profit does not fall into the "honest" category. Just the opposite in fact! You even said he LIED on what the payment was for, in order to avoid the legitimate fees on paypal too! And your justification of it by saying they have screwed you over in the past? Just your way of rationalizing your THEFT of services.

An honest man. lol. thanks for the chuckle.

I actually just sold Ikes on ebay, for a decent price over face value too... Tellers offer them to me somewhat often when I ask for halves... I do know of 2 banks that have around 100 each, been thinking of picking them up to resale on ebay... I know the one lot of 100 was all bicentennials, as I got 10 of them, but couldnt pull the trigger on the other 100 lol...

I did have a bank tell me they used to be able to order ikes up until a few months ago

He sounds pretty honest to me. Why would you side with a corporation over the underdog? eBay/PayPal are well known thieves and you can read evidence of this at paypalsucks.com and ebayexodus.com.

Why side with the corporation? He sounds honest? REALLY? The reason I side with the corporation is because in THIS case he ADMITS to DEFRAUDING them. that is not honest, refardless of whether you call him "the underdog" or not. Is theft of their fees due not theft to you?? What a warped world we live in when if you defraud a "corporation" it is still "honest"! Sickens me and most of my generation, which is why we fear for the future.

Principles have nothing to do with what generation you are in. I know (or know of) plenty of people (at least if thats you in the picture) around your age, who have no scruples whatsoever.

Haha..Well I read your little rant..Defraud a Corporation?..ARE YOU SERIOUS? Theft of thier Fee's??...Now you have me chuckling....Nobody was ripped off from what I did, If you are talkign about the 3 bucks or so in Fee's, I highly doubt its doing anything to the profits of this Precious Corporation. You obvisously have more money than Brains. What I did was a smart pay on a service that continues to screw people over.

We all dont make the money you do. Your reply Sickens me
