"Soupie's Spring Swing Fling Gold Hunt Hefeweizen" is getting bottled tonight - woo hoo!!!

Racking her to the bottling bucket! Its actually a dark hefeweizen rather than a traditional hefeweizen. Tastes pretty good, can't wait until it is carbonated and cold. It should end up like this http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/252/808

30 Days to Go Folks

We are getting closer by the day :hello2:
Sure most of you have read your emails on the hunting sites...we are squared away for the main hunting areas...
I am still working/contemplating the sites to hunt for the early arrivals...alot will be weather dependant on where we go...I have several picked out and think we will do well at any of them...

Tommyboy,as long as you do not bring it to "show and tell" we will be fine :laughing7:

Gimme, that is looking tasty Bud,thanks for the effort...

Kimsdad, appears Tim will be shavin that noggin of yours,I will get the flow-bee setup...

Thinks thats all for now.....enjoy the day folks...

Re: Spring field group Hunt....

I'm fairly sure Neil will go for the 'batts buzzcut if you put him on the site with the gold under his coil.

Otherwise, I'm pretty sure I know better.

Gimmie swiggin' homebrew,
Tommyboy swingin' wood.

And you'd think it's a coincidence that this begins on April Fools Day.

Mark just got elevated to human shield.

When the locals see all of us swinging. . . whatever, we'll be known as the "Field of Fools" for sure :P

I think we have a winner in our hunt name search. Thank you Watercooler!

Soupies April Field of Fools Hunt. First annual.

Soupie and his twelve disciples go on an epic search for the sound of something to ease their angst over the knowledge that every 4 seconds somewhere in the world, a child is born without hair on his or her head.

Re: IL Forum "April Fools" Field Hunt....

Yeah Baby, we're looking at:

27 days!

Re: IL Forum "April Fools" Field Hunt....

Looks like you have put together a great hunt. The roster is full so no opening there, however, looking over the attendee list it appears that you may need a bipartisan/referee/observer to observe this outing and that job I may be willing to drive the 300mi and volunteer for.Of course I would not bring a detector, only my sheltie(Dixie),who has been on the Uvalde and CTH hunts and I would not participate in the delicious food unless that would be a token payment for my services as a neutral referee and observer. My main focus would be protecting and watching the home brew and eats from hunters sneaking to get at them and making sure they are suitable for the hunter's consumption. This would be done by adequate sampling the items of course.I will also monitor haircuts and shaves.

Re: IL Forum "April Fools" Field Hunt....

Your cracking me up Ron :laughing7:
I can't disagree with your assessment of the attendees list.
Even though I have never met any of the hunters on it in person, from what has transpired over the last few months I am certain there are some real cutups in the group,me included.
We probably could use a chaperon and If you would like the job it is yours...
As to the food,I always cook to much so there should be no hungry hunters in the group...
If you do not accept the job,I will see you at CTH this year.....missed them all since 06' and figure it is about time I attend another...thanks for stopping by the post....

Re: IL Forum "April Fools" Field Hunt....

Soup Says only 27 days to GO :smileinbox:

There should be several emails in everyones mailbox with some history on one of the sites we will be hunting.....some interesting reading for sure....From the details there should be many targets to recover there,I think silver is almost a given from the age and amount of people that traveled through the site,I will be speaking to family members that own the lands and gathering more info,I have a feeling the site could expand to the surrounding area as far as hunting....Stay Tuned....

Re: IL Forum April 1st "Field of Fools" Hunt....

Well you all must still be reading....Myself, I have been busy spending my hard earned cash....
Finally broke down and ordered an X-1 for my Etrac,in honor of the hunt of course, thought since we will be hitting some grass, which I seldom do anymore it would come in handy...
Also figured since there are so many of us for the hunt, the probe might get me to the next target faster.....cant let you guys find it all

Hahaha, I will be armed with the x-1 (which has been acting up lately :( ), and my handheld PP, the Garrett propointer.

P.S. Make sure you guys bring spare coils if you have 'em, ranging in sizes as well. I'm thinking about grabbing an extra battery pack.

Re: IL Forum April 1st "Field of Fools" Hunt....

I will be sporting 4 coils...but I mostly use the 8" sunray out in the fields,it has the inserts so it does not snag, seems field depth on the stock pro coil and my 10x14 really dont gain me much in worked soil and catch on alot of snags, any of you guys had the same results with overall depth in....tilled fields

I will be loaning out the 10x14 excellerator if any minelabers would like to try one out

Re: IL Forum April 1st "Field of Fools" Hunt....

I am going to attempt to make my own full coil cover out of kydex this week. I was thinking that the tilled fields will be a problem with the open coil design. I'll let you know how it turns out.
