Re: IL Forum April 1st "Field of Fools" Hunt....

Hey Scott, I like to use the 10.5 on my CZ's in plowed fields, gets plenty deep and in Salt mode it don't get bugged by the iron and chemical balance too bad. Also keeps me swinging even over the bigger clumps. Just gotta be careful not to pass those targets on edge.

If it's disced and the breakup is smaller, then I can go to the smaller coil or may go to the F70 with the 5.5" if the 11.5" is too noisy. Don't have the 10" elliptical for the F70. I am however kind of anticipating the delivery of those new FT 15" DD coils for the F series to see how they work.

Re: IL Forum April 1st "Field of Fools" Hunt....

I have considered some kind of cover for mine as well D-dub,and if you have never hunted cornfields, the coil will snag...I went back and looked at the site pics and there is stubble, looks as though they did not chisel plow last fall, this has its good points and bad....the good is the ground will be compacted so more depth in the find......overall in the pics it looks fairly tame compared to others I have hunted...I should have paid more attention when I was over there last week, but with the 8" not snagging I just didnt consider that issue...sorry man

Lowbatts I have been known to break out a 5" sunray if the site requires, cant cover as much ground but you can swing faster and get in some tight spots.....I like that little sniper.....as to the rest...sounds like you are loaded for bear errrrr silver and gold I mean

Hey Watercooler,Lowbatts and Gimme
I had a message on the phone when I got home, the third site we researched our butts off on..well it was a no.....atleast the guy called me back  said he had alot a problems with peeps on his property in the past and just had to say no.... I will call him back and thank him for the message, and let him know if he ever changes his mind to give me a call....course he could be ordering a detector as we speak... :tongue3:

Looks like you have put together a great hunt. The roster is full so no opening there, however, looking over the attendee list it appears that you may need a bipartisan/referee/observer to observe this outing and that job I may be willing to drive the 300mi and volunteer for.Of course I would not bring a detector, only my sheltie(Dixie),who has been on the Uvalde and CTH hunts and I would not participate in the delicious food unless that would be a token payment for my services as a neutral referee and observer. My main focus would be protecting and watching the home brew and eats from hunters sneaking to get at them and making sure they are suitable for the hunter's consumption. This would be done by adequate sampling the items of course. I will also monitor haircuts and shaves.

Hey WSD, any help with watching my back for Lowbatt's clippers would be greatly appreciated, although all this talk about getting snagged on stubble has me thinking seriously about a head and face shave. :) More aerodynamic for speed swinging and less chance of getting tangled in the stalk stubs when digging! Of course Dixie would not want for attention if she was there.

Congrats on the X-1, Soupie! You will like it! Not only does it work great, but I love it because I can't lose it! :laughing7: I'm always dropping things...

Re: IL Forum April 1st "Field of Fools" Hunt....

Well I see there's no screw cap, crown top or pull tab option in the findings poll so I got nothing....

Neil, just a little off the top, eh?

Probably gonna be skeeter season that far south....

Re: IL Forum April 1st "Field of Fools" Hunt....

No Skeeters are invited to the hunt ...they usually start in late may to late june here...so we should not have to deal with them...

As to the pulltabs, screwcaps and can slaw I am being optomistic...the field is set off the road about a rod or so,lets wish for the best....

Getting closer folks....

Re: IL Forum April 1st "Field of Fools" Hunt....

Last field hunt I pulled up a 10 inch section of an old well pipe. Will that fit in the box? I think Tim found a metal foot pedal from an old tractor. How about that?

Re: IL Forum April 1st "Field of Fools" Hunt....

Yeah Yeah...so your the funny guy tonight :laughing7:
I know you will help....
Just remember carma has a way of evening the score.....
Besides I think the old Minelab of mine can probably fill both with nice keepers on its own...
Put that in your garrett and smoke it :tongue3:

Re: IL Forum April 1st "Field of Fools" Hunt....

They are nice looking Neil....
Good quality too....
