i have a vacation home at a local lake (trailer/mobile home/rv) park and have made a ton on finds doing dumpster runs with my kid and wife. Furniture, electronics, home decor, trinkets, jewelry, tools, construction material, lawn and garden, etc. No pics, just lots of fun times coming back to the trailer with a new find!

My wife is a reseller at a local second hand store and diving has brought us a couple bills every month and has been a great pastime for us until.....

The dang association and refuse company put in taller dumpsters with heavy lids! Man these things are impossible to pick from let alone do a quick level ground search from. i understand the reasoning (bears, stray litter, neatness) but holy cow the older less vertical folks cant even open the the lids and need help.

I am now in the market for a "grabber" claw handle thing to help with my search and pickings. :BangHead:

im getting ready for early morning drive through the neighborhood before the trash man comes and takes all the goodies ;) last time i slept in.

this is actually how my dad makes some money on the side, picks a lawn mower/snow blower/weed whipper..... disassembles it and puts all the parts on ebay. whatever sells is nearly pure profit for him.. after a few items sell it covers the beer for the week :p

Better get a prop to hold that lid up too, or find a football helmet. I bet that lid won't feel to good if it comes down un-expectedly.

Not sure if theres a Walgreens store around you but they carry the "Gopher" as seen on tv claw for around $10. I use it to pick up around my house :)

Check the website www.tongs.com They have a snake grabber that is relatively expensive but VERY good. I have the 60 inch and 40 inch models of the Gentle Giant. TTC
