Stopped at a yard sale.
I guess it was actually a 3 day event and there was some tables of free items.
So I quickly gleaned the brass and aluminum.
Walked to the side of the house where the guy had a pile of cables.
How much?
Reply: I am going to strip it for the copper.
Must be 10 lbs of cable, I know my scrap.
The extension cords?
Reply: I'll throw them in, $20 for the lot.
So the freebies added up to about $30
I quickly stripped 2 cables 8lbs = $40
So now I have a $70 return
The price on extension cords are a $1.00
So that will give me another $15.00
The remaining cable should net me another $50
Total $135
Free sprinkler wand, and grass trimmers.
I was going to buy a set of these on my next trip to the city. Not now!🤣
I figured it out in my head that I would make $5× on my investment. If I didn't do anything to the pile except sort it would be $95 dollars.
19 yrs retired from the scrap business.
Still can do a 30 second calculation in the head.😊
