I am so sorry for this horrid loss...my heart sank when i saw the words R.I.P. and Rich in the same sentence...i am deeply saddened, and i am in fact shedding tears over this horrible event. He was a wonderful man, husband, and father i am sure. He was, and always will be known as "THE KING OF CRH'ING" no matter what happens...he was once of the largest contributors to this forum, and his posts, memories, actions, kindness, finds, and additions to the forum will always live strong between us all in our hearts, and every time we find a silver coin. i really hope this is understood, and taken into consideration by many that read this, and please all understand my deepest and sincerest apologies for this tear jerking event. R.I.P. Richard M. you will always be in our hearts.

I am shocked and saddened by this news. Rich and I exchanged many PMs and he was always pleasant to chat to. Coincidentally on April 16th I drove through Hartford on a business trip I was wondering about him. Please accept my deepest condolence. Steve. We will always remember him.

Just got home and saw this very sad news. Like everyone else, I too looked forward to Rich's posts, whether they were replies to others or "Today's 8 boxes."

Thank you Steve for sharing the obituary so we could all see what a great man your dad was. God bless your family, and keep him strong in your memory. Rest in peace Rich.

I am shocked and stunned by the loss of Rich.

I have always looked for Rich's posts...they were always informative, and often, very funny. I often found myself literally laughing out loud at something he wrote about. More than once, while CRHing, I've used a one liner or quip that Rich shared with us.

Prayers for Rich's family.

To Scoobasteve, your family and all the other members of the forum,

For the past few weeks, I haven't had much time to sign on to the forum do to
work and travel. This morning, I received a personal note from Apush that told
me about Rich. I just signed on and saw the sad news of his passing. No need to
tell you all how sad I am. Rich was "one of a kind". He always had time to answer
questions and encourage the younger CRHers in their searches. His posts were
delightful to read and always had that great humor that kept us all going. Many
times, Rich and I would communicate with e-mails and I enjoyed every comment
he made. Reading his life story added to my respect for him and what he did for
our country. He knew I was a Vietnam vet and a career law enforcement officer.
We shared many thoughts, ideas and laughs about our times "on the street".
Steve, Your father was a true American hero. He will be greatly missed.
R.I.P Rich, you will always be in my thoughts.
Respectfully,
rileyboy and "Riley"

Don't know what to say. As a stranger I'm sure there isn't much that can be said to make his family feel better but I will say, as much as he was liked and respected here at T-Net and how much we are saddened, the loss his real life family must be feeling now has to be unbearable. I've always contended that you don't judge a man by what he has left behind but, rather, WHO he has left behind. Your father has left us ALL behind but somehow I feel, by leaving you here, he has made the world a better place.

ScoobaSteve,
Your dad was one of a kind -- the best. I am stunned to hear this news. Words can not express how saddened I am over his passing, he was far too young to leave this world.
We Marines know that he in now on duty guarding heaven's streets.
God bless, comfort, and protect you and your family in this time. May his memories never be dimmed.
Semper Fidelis,
Steve
Rest In Peace Rich!
