My friend (Rudy2003) has passed on​

I'm sorry to have to bring such bad news, but my huntin' buddy, Keith Goodman (Rudy2003), passed away last night. Keith was a great family man. He was an excellent friend, and had a passion for dirt fishin'. In his recent retirement he went detecting every chance he got. He loved his wife Lynn very much, still taking her out every Friday for "date night". He has two sons, a daughter and grandchildren that will miss him very much.
I had known Keith since 1993 when we started working together in the steel construction industry. He was quite a character. We spent MUCH more time cuttin' up then we did working. That's for sure.
He told me not long ago to "just quit work and let's go metal detecting". I told him that I am only 40, so he'd have to wait 20 years and we'd do all the metal detecting we wanted, while our wives stayed behind and talked about how silly we were to be playing in the dirt all the time.
We chuckled over that and said our goodbyes. We had only spoken via email since that call.
I started to call him over the weekend to see if he wanted to play in the dirt a while, but I thought I had something more important to do that day. In hindsight, there was nothing more important than that call I never made. That will certainly go down as one of my greatest regrets.
I'll be out playing in the dirt in his honor this weekend. I have no doubt that he'll be with me, leading me to the booty.
I hope that anyone who reads this will say a little prayer for my friend and his family.

I'll miss you Keith.

I had hunted with Keith a few times, getting together from the Whites Forum, and he was a great guy.

We PM'ed quite a few times and he was always ready to go detecting, but his health had him a bit limited.
I got him to join the HARC detecting club, and he came to a few meetings.

He will be missed.
Lance, I will say some prayers for his family in this time of grief. I put your post on the Whites Forum where he also was a member. There already are some replies.

it is with great sorrow that I have heard of his passing.
I was given the opportunity to hunt with him at the Florida Hunt
he was an honestly decent person and he will be missed
may his memory live on in those who knew him, and those that didn't

I'm just saddened by the loss of Keith. I had the opportunity to hunt with him at the Louisiana Bayou Hunt and the Florida Hunt. Keith was a overall great person to be with and to hunt with. May you rest in peace, my friend.

He was lucky to have a friend like you....

I agree with TnM, you were blessed with his friendship, but you also blessed Rudy with your love of metal detecting and friendship you shared with him, I am sure he loved hunting with you as much as you loved hunting with him, as long as you hold those memories he will continue to live and go hunting with you each time...

I was one of the lucky ones who got to not only hunt with him but, sit and visit with him. This news sadens me greatly ! I send our thought and prayers to his family and to those who got to hunt with him more than I was able to!

I'm so sorry to hear this. He was a great guy. I'll see if I can find some additional pictures from the LBH. I recall him being diabetic, but it sure didn't slow him down! I do have his address if anyone wants to send a card to his family. Just send me a PM. - Noodle
