Found this in my backyard today. It's a 16ga federal monark paper shot shell. Every thing I can find on the Internet says it from the 40s or 50s. My neighborhood has only been here for about 6 or seven years. It used to be farm land. Every thing else that I found was trash.

And if you are digging those it means it may have not been hunted cause that is a target signal you always dig. The more of those I hit the better I feel. Unless I am in a dove field!!
