In Vail/Beaver Creek right now

I want to go gold panning. Whats the closest place to do it?

I know gold was mined near Redcliff, down I-70 from Vail, turn south on I belive Hwy 24 towards Leadville. Not sure about placer deposits along Homestake Creek that flows along the road.
