Incised pottery/mystery bone

Hello everyone. I found a few nice pieces of pottery this past weekend on an island off of Florida's forgotten coast. Local legend says the island was used for ceremonial purposes. Pottery lines the beach on the channel side. I decided to only pick up a few pieces. The mystery item could be natural weathering, but this piece stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the oyster shell midden. It's coated in a white powdery dust. Could it be bone? I also think I see cut marks, but Mother Nature could be at play. Any information would be great. Thanks for looking. Nice pottery shards. That is a piece of Conch shell. It was used by the Florida native Americans for all types of tools/vessels. Yours could be a gouge, scraper, or something natural. Look and see if the sides are sharpened or shaped in some way.
Be careful picking up items in Florida unless you're on private property with permission. Florida has strict laws and a history of enforcing them! Good luck.

Thank you for the info. One side of the shell is sharpened. And I only snagged a few pieces on the sly. I figure I can play dumb the first time I'm caught hahaha.
