Could be either or both. Springfield has an example somewhere on here where the spanish came later and pecked on the same rock the indians had previously- kind of in a hidden way, but I'll let him tell you about it if he wants to… I would consider the surround area as context. Is there more pecking, or is that the only one? Wish you the best.

If you were to roll that stone 180 degrees to the 1:30 position, would it fit in the large chipped out space on that big rock next to it?? Was it there, originally, before you rolled it onto it's back where it is now laying??

No rolling 180. It fits into that area behind it, pretty much how it's sitting. It has apparently sluffed off during some freeze and thaw conditions. It's at ground level and was froze into the ground when I noticed it.

Hi NVNutcase. That is a really cool map. Just me thinking out loud, The marks on the stone look very fresh in compairson with other stone maps that I have seen. If they are as fresh as they appear In the photo, I would be inclined to rule out the spanish/jesuit, ancient, pre 1900's Indian, cowboy outlaw, KGC/OAK. If They are as fresh as they appear, I would think more modern day outlaw or an Indian tribal map leading to a sacred place. If they are as fresh as they appear, the map maker may not be far away. I really like that map it is really cool. Please remember that I am a green horn and I am often wrong.

I'm going back out there on Sunday, and if I can lift it, I will set it back in its original position and take another look around and some more photos. Also, If I can figure how, I'll draw a diagram of the immediate area.

NVNutcase. I would not move that stone. There are symbols on the stones behind the map that are part of the map as well. If you move it, you may lose the orientation of the map. Also it may make some sun or shadow symbols that you will lose if you move it. I am a green horn but I would slow way down and know what I was doing before I did something. Where these maps are concerned information can be lost real easy.

i see like a number 4 and then a number 7 and the at the rt lower i see a cross that means 4 because it divides like 4 quarters, also the straight lines might mean bara, or baras, and the dots tell you how many places to go, i recomend you to wet the rock and wait until is about to dry out and u will c better details, have your camera ready by then, the information that i'm giving is in a book wrote by charles A Kenworthy where it tells about treasure signs, symbols shadow. good luck.

Hello Nevada, Pecked is if you have a hammer in one hand and a round tip in the other hand, I would look at the outline and see if it has a feature of something, and pick out the different size pecked holes ? and use a piece of white chalk with a sharp end to just mark the bottom of the small hole, if there's difference sizes I would mark them with different colors and see if anything appears, look for arrows, letters, and numbers, profile. Watch a chicken they will show you how to do it ( just kiddin )

tn_OldSpanishTrailmap_JPG.webpthe only thing is that the Camino real or Royal Kings road passed over southern Nevada,
