Found this with my son while we were wading through Jones Creek in Alabama near prattville. Not sure what tribe it's from or worth. Thought it was a cool find. Just happened to flip up some rocks to see if we could find some nice ones and this is what I found. Every one tried to get me to give it to them if I didn't want which I do and one man with his metal detector tried to buy it from me on the spot for $500. I said no to that and we kept it. Anyone have any information on this piece? 20151108_163754.webpFB_IMG_1447010036532.webp20151108_163718.webp

I would have taken the $500! Very nice find, but they only sell for $20 to $30 on eBay.

I'm no expert but I think $30 is a little modest. It doesn't look like a $500 point but I don't think you'd have any problem finding a collector @ about $75-100. It's pretty big.

I'd love to find something that nice.

I also would have taken the $500..

google "projectile points" the site has a database with photos and all the info you need. that is a nice one. should have taken the $500

There's a native artifact section of treasurenet that is helpful too!

I would have kept it just for the memories. That is a nice one. Congrats! Better go flip up more rocks in that creek.

Looks like a Morrow Mountain type point to me. And a nice one at that. I would suggest returning to the area and check for more artifacts. Good find and good luck!

FWIW it looks like a morrow mountain or a derivative of a morrow mountain point to me. Could be off but that might give you a starting point for an ID.

Nice find.. I too get attached to the things i find.

Dang nice artifact.

That's a nice point man, congratulations

Here in Arkansas, that would probably be considered a Gary point. They were used as knives...d2

any idea what kind of stone that is made of?

Morrow Mountain Point, very nice big example and probably worth about $75 to $100 tops. Glad to hear you kept it but $500 would have been hard to turn down.

I know what your son is going to want to do this weekend. Congratulations on a nice find and good luck on you next!

What he said! Very nice and a great memory of a great time with your son!

Like others have said, get back in that creek!

its amazing how on some artifacts they will get creek worn. I bet the day somebody made that one they cherished it as much as you do. Nice save
