It just got done raining and I had a little time so I went to the field and it was so muddy I stayed on the outside edge. got this head pounding signal thought it has to be a aluminum can all most didn't dig it. Then I did and wow 1700 club and 1600 club in less than a week at the same place! Didn't have to go far for water to clean it 2.5 inches of rain to day. I'm covered in mud. Coin has a hole in it. I have been told that Indians did that but also people attach them in their clothes so they wouldn't lose them. I have hunted this site many times but I think I have found where the goods are now. Wow! Here is the pic from last Friday.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1499907032.295909.webp

Holy cow-an eight reales, and in outstanding condition-that is at the top of my bucket list. And the 1600s French coin to boot! Big congratulations-my banner vote is in. Post a picture of the two coins side-by-side. That would look great up top.

An 8 reale - wow! I think that Indians liked silver and if traders didn't have trade silver, they would hole coins to trade as pendants. I have a holed 1661 hammered Hungarian silver coin that I found on an Indian trading post in PA that I think was worn as a pendant by an Indian.

Is that an Ohio find?
Wow:hello2::headbang:

Awesome congrats

Simply awesome find!!

Congratualtions on the big silver recovery! :occasion14:

sweet find fishing for coins!

Incredible even-tone patina on that Spanish. Silver rim in the side of the hole like it was waiting patiently just for you! Get that thing out of there!

Big congrats. I love how coin finds like these always come with the blaring/pounding can signal that was almost not dug. The shaking and the dreams. I would too...

That is a very productive site and I'm probably not alone in urging you to video some of your finds! These are very tough coins to dig, most go a lifetime. I'm still waiting for mine!

HH!

Are you hitting any buttons, buckle pieces, porcelain? I bet there are some killer dandy buttons out there. Post em up!

From one OH native to another - you are killing it!! Such early coinage from this state is hard. Well done sir.

Super find!! I have only one 8 reale I found a few years ago and it's the same variety as yours, just 1781 instead. Never dug another and I would love to experience that again. Just a wonderful feeling to dig a coin not only that old but as huge as those things are. Makes me want to go back to the 1700's fort I found mine and search for another. Oh and by the way, that Carolus III is one super-homely dude!!:laughing9:

Agreed. There has got to be some really cool relics associated with a site that gives up coins like these.

I have found some flat buttons there and some large cents early 1800's also lots of pottery. Not much Iron there for relics some axe heads. Hoping to find some copper arrow heads or tomahawk head. We will see.

Omg! im jealous, very nice, im voting banner, cause i love this coin

I found a 1829 Spanish Mexican 8 Reales and I'm still chasing after THAT high.
