Indians and buttons

Detected a nice old site of mine and dug a few Indians, an 1880 and a 1859....can't see a date but the reverse gives it away. The site which was occupied as a Third Seminole War camp also gave up the two buttons, one a pewter trouser and the other a one piece flat. Not real sure whether the warranted rich orange one is older than the pewter or not. The site dates to the 1820s and was occupied up until about 1900.. Thanks for lookin .

I was a little less dissapointed once I saw the reverse.....wish one was a '77 though but maybe next time lol.

These two were dug under a canopy of two hundred year oak trees, I am sure that all those years of decaying leaves has something to do with the toastiness of them.

Nice finds. Your four hole pewter is an underwear button, military issue, circa 1850s. Have seen a lot of them come out of 1850s military encampments in West Texas.

Thanks Steve, both of those buttons were found near to where I previously dug 3 dropped .69 cal. Musketballs and a few percussion caps. It is a confirmed Army camp during the Third Seminole War so it is probably from that encampment......not so sure of the one piece button though.

Nicely done! I always love seeing that dark green disk in the bottom of the hole. Tells me it’s an old wheatie or Indian.
