Minelab Quattro and Sovereign Elite
Managed to get in a couple of hunts recently. Its getting pretty cold out there now and were hoping the ground doesnt freeze up. I just drove by a playground that is being dug up with backhoes and hope to hit it tomorrow, we'll see.
Anyways, heres some things i dug
Some buttons ,one reads STANDARD COLOUR, another reads DOUBLE GILT, its the first one like this i dug that actually has some gilt left on it. I like the larger flatbutton, its unmarked and the hoop is welded on off-centered, so im thinkin it may be colonial...Another reads UNION NEWS CO., with SCOVILL MFG. on the back.
Found a silver buckle with a "K" on it.

The "Whatsit?" is a medallion or token of some sort , it has ,what I guess is a Roman soldiers bust, with no lettering on it, though. Its a little larger than a US Large Cent, made of copper/brass.

1889 1907 IHeads.

And what day of detecting is complete without a good ole sardine can? ;D

Be safe , Happy Hunting,

Jim

nice finds, i really like those buttons.

Those are some nice finds. Glad to see someone can get out and do some detecting. Heading to work now to plow snow.

The buckle looks like an old swim suit buckle, very nice finds :)

I call that a very nice day of MD Jim, I love to see a button turn in the soil.. Been known to take my on sardine can with saltines along on the hunt. HH

Gah only one layer of sardines in that can.... :o Whats this world coming too... ;)

Looks like a great hunt. thanks for sharing.

Impressive Day you had. Great buttons and IH. The buckle is very cool too.

Thanks, it looks like the Roman token is Minerva , the Roman goddess of War , on top of her helmet sits a small dragon , or dragoon... Learned this from posting it in the "What Is It " forum , here on T-Net..And the back of it is flat.
Thanks JC for the info on the Union News Co. button.. It was a company that started out selling newspapers on trains at New York in the late 1800s'.
Got out yesterday and found some dynamite coins , when I take some pics, and clean them a bit Ill post them.
Snowed in for now.

Happy Hunting!

Jim
