Interesting find today!

Found this on farmland. The place was cleared in the Viking Age and the farm was built in the 1300s. After the black death in the 1350s it became desolate. The farm was reused again in the 1600s.

It looks bronze to me.

Norway, Hedmark.
Detektor used: Equanox 800. 18-19 ID.

My folks were in Switzerland in 1350. Is the "Black dawn the advent of the Black Death"? I know from family history it was a great social and political upheaval. Apparently my folks helped to bury the dead. Our equivalent of a flu shot is the "Thieves Formula".

Is it broken off something larger or made as one piece?

I'm also having a bit of trouble judging the size.

I'm sure your Minelab screen is much the same as mine, but can we get another picture with a common object like a modern coin or a cigarette lighter?

It’s a broken part of something i think.

I would say it is a fibula (fragment) and if you you would not hail from Norge I would say roman crossbow brooch. Perhaps some experts will chime in.

Namxat may be on to it. Possible a fragment of an anchor brooch.



BTW - The additional pictures made a big difference. The relic is much small than I first thought.
