Went back yesterday to the spot I found the 1820/19 large cent. Didn't find any great coins, but did find an interesting assortment of stuff. I always like finding an old crotal bell, but what I thought was the most interesting find was the match book holder. Still had a pack of matches in it. The larger spoon is pewter. The watch piece is marked 10k rolled gold plate. It is starting to come off so it appears that it's 10k that was rolled out into a sheet and pressed on to the watch case. The blue delft china is old. Not sure what the glass thing is, but one of those "O" shaped copper pieces was sitting in it and that's why I got the signal. I may not have had a good day for coins, but I love the old odds and ends and would take these over a bunch of clads any day.

Some good stuff there. Certainly unusual. Never seen a matchbook holder before. The key might have gone to an old post office box.

That key actually looks like a handcuff key.

I never tire of crotal bells either.

How about a close up and cropped pic of the match box, sounds interesting.

Looks like the glass thing is a mason jar glass lid. Clamp down type. Good finds from up north.

Thanks DMN. I didn't know they made Mason jar lids in glass.

that match holder is cool

Nice variety of finds.

Here's some close up pictures of the match case. I also found a photo of one online that seems to be the exact same one.
