So yesterday I am working the beach where I live in Southwest Florida. I get a strange signal on my F70 that is showing a quarter and then something else. I start digging down about 8 to 10 inches and find the quarter. I sweep again and get a strong hit for what I think is junk. Having already started the hole I go ahead and dig around out pops a gold iPhone 5s all caked in dirt. I try to turn it on and nothing. I bag it and get it home and figure there is no way it will work as dirty as it was and the amount of rain we've had. I go about cleaning it, getting all the dirt out of the openings with compressed air and a vacuum. I plug it in and wallah... the charging signal comes on. After about 20 minutes of charging I turn it back on and the home screen pops up but it is locked. There is no way I can tell who's it is in this condition. As such, I hook it to my computer and do a factory restore (I am very versed with Apple products). I let it reboot and when it goes to restore the phone, the find my phone feature pops up and says the phone was lost and call a number listed. The phone is bricked. Long story short, in less than an hour I tracked down the young lady who lost it 12 weeks ago while on spring break from Michigan. I boxed it up this morning and it's on it's way home via UPS at my expense. She wanted to pay me a reward, but all I asked her to do was something kind for someone in the future. Needless to say the young lady is elated to be getting her phone back.

Good Story with a happy ending! Good Karma coming your way sometime!

Nice find and a happy ending, too.

Nice Sherlock Holmes "who-dunnit" mystery solved. Thanx for the fun story!

Nice find, You're a good guy, to go through the trouble.
For me, iPhone is probably the most life-changing device that I use daily up to this point
Before iPhone, I literally went through dozens and dozens of mobile telephones all of which were absolute garbage.
The fact that they were garbage was actually an intentional industry profit center.
The miraculous technology that exists and has been steadily improved upon since, would never have been released to the public so early if it were not for Apple and iPhone.
No other manufacturer was willing or considered the public worthy of receiving such high technology coupled with quality construction
I remember nothing quite worked right, including syncing, and a few drops of sweat could render a Motorola razor worthless.
Apple changed all that and ushered the entire world into the future with a device that forced all others to respect and intrust mankind with similar such well built and miraculous technology.

Now every 10-year-old in the country has flawless access to the cumulative knowledge of the universe and their complete phone and address lists

it's just amazing that thing works after being buried for three months in wet sand

That's a cool story. I found a Blackberry Bold the other day in the sand, couldn't get it to turn on. I opened the battery compartment and pulled out the micro-SD card. Plugged it into my computer and found over 1000 pics, some video, some documents, which included a resume. I emailed the address on the resume, and found the name from the resume on Facebook, told them I had her phone but got no response so far. I went through the SD card in attempts to find whose phone it was, which is where I found the resume. Many of the pics were pornographic…………..and not exactly "good looking" pornographic, lol.

Great story - speaks well for those Apple products too. I use my iPhone for my MD'ing hobby. Minelab has an app that lets you track your finds in the field by taking a picture of it, adding notes, etc. It'll record your GPS coordinates to the note too so you can go back for more hunting at a later date. Anyone who bashes the iPhone has never used one.

Great job dado. Thanks for the Minelab App info Silver Finger.

Great job. She is lucky to have you found it.

I found one once in Atlanta at the airport. It was locked and I'm not a techie-

I popped Siri up and said call home. Nothing

Call Mom, and she called even tho the phone was locked. Got the phone sent back to the owner.

Great story.

I found a phone once, was a recent drop in the woods near a camp ground. Still had some battery. I called a contact and got a hold of the owner eventually, they came and got it. Feels great to do something nice for someone.

Nice job Dadoftwogirls!

I found an older phone last weekend at baseball field. Called 'Mom' and she said it ws her daughters phone. The family asked me to drop it at nearby store so they could pick it up.

Did my scout good deed for that day.

HH,

Pete
