🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Iron "3" shape

ID on the Iron number 3-shaped object? I'm sure this is a simple one but I don't know the answer. Found near a long gone settlement with occupation from the mid 1800s into early to mid-1900s. Also timber farmed through the years. Ends are chisel pointed.

Looks like a lap link for a chain that has been stretched (pulled) out.
