Iron Age for sure, not a variant I've had yet, maybe a Northern type.

Cru'dad will confirm, but that Carausius is a barbarous or local issue, & in that way its more interesting, although probably not more valueable. What is nice is its crude reverse figure & its amazing condition. Most were made of a lesser quality metal. I would be very please to add that to my barbarous album pages.

Great looking bronzes Robert, liking the Brooch!

cracking finds there well done :thumbsup:

My observations;
The Obverse is pretty good for a local immitation (Barbarous issue), with most the the Lengend being correct;
IMP C[ARAVSI]VS PF AV{but its missing its G on the end}

The Reverse is meant to be copying PAX AVG, the X is visible but the rest is blundered, including a reverse 'R' where the V should be.
It also has a figure right holding a Wreath which should be associated with either Laetitia or Victory. A trident is also visible, not normally Pax related. All in all the reverse is a right muddle of incorrections & poor quality crafting of the figures arms etc & something a Roman would never put their name to.

Cheers Cru for the info. Let's hope the coin maker got better, during his career.:laughing7:

I was discussing this with Cru'Dad & I think that the Obverse was made by a different Die Maker than the Reverve. They seem too different to be made by the same person.

True Cru, the obverse is streets ahead, of the reverse.
