I’ve been detecting along a brook and found this iron lid with the imprint R & K S. Been searching through old trademarks to try and ID what it might have been but nothing coming up. The inner loop at one time would have been able to lift but is severely rusted to the fixture.

Any thoughts as to other means of determining what this was?.....many thanks.

I would guess it's a eye/lid for an old stove. But, I really don't know if that center ring is supposed to lift up.

Definitely looks like a wood/coal stove lid, the side you are showing is the bottom the top should be flat except for a square blind hole that the lid lifter hooks into.
Here is a picture of a lid like yours on a stove. And another pic. that I can't remove.

These types of finds always sound so sweet when you find them with a detector.

Of course, once you have them out out of the ground... all you can say is "oh crap"! :laughing7:

At least you got an I.D.

Solved.... thanks all for the input. In looking at the lid further, it would certainly make sense that it had some purpose on a stove.
