iron or steel heart shaped metal

Any one know what this could be? I found it in a civil war camp. It is fairly thin and has holes in it like it was attached to something.

That's a tough one peanut. It does look as though the two side holes may have attached it to something (maybe riveted to leather?) while the middle hole got the wear from a "moving part" of some kind. I noticed a little spur on the bottom right. Is that something we ought to know about more?

Crusader, I was wondwering if it might be a drawer pull plate too, but dismissed the idea because of the center hole. You reminded me though that there were occasionally cylindrical keys that might fit a round hole, if the enter hole was a key hole, so you might very well be right about furniture related.

It is rust, like it might have been next to another metal object.
