Can anyone help me identify this stirrup? There appears to be wings on the side, but it is hard to tell. Thanks.

Hi Mawkus welcome to Treasurenet. Did you dig this stirrup from a site where The Battle of Nashville was fought? I wish I knew so nothing about stirrups, that one looks very cool.

Yes I did. Right smack in the middle of it.

Wait, do you live in Nashville? Funny, I'm using an xterra30, after using a whites v3 and mxt all pro, and atpro. Saving money and getting better results!

Yep I do! There are still some relics to be found here still. My husband used to have a Whites( forgot the name if it) and it was a good machine. I hear good things about the AT pro as well. My Minelab is my first detector and I like it because if ease use,its weight. and not much of a learning curb on using it.

Awesome. There definitely are relics to be found, but I can't seem to get my hands on any cs, union, or other military issued buckles. In other words, the super nice brass relics are gone. At least I believe they are. Have you and your husband have any decent spots?

Buckles are pretty hard to come by I think, bullets fairly easy if you're in the right area. Research is the key to finding decent spots and of course obtaining permission is of upmost importance. We have found a few decent spots but I think being able to go a lot during the week enables us to find stuff more readily. Most days all we find are Coors badges.:tongue3:

history, history, history and cool at that, if only this stuff could tell their stories!

That is in pretty nice condition for being iron. Nice find indeed.

I wish I could help on Identification. Best Bet might be to Google Search. I've never found a stirup and do not re-call anything like yours- goldnugget

Really cool stirrup! :hello2: :headbang: :hello2: Never seen one like it on t-net! Hope someone knowledgeable here will soon provide info. Have fun! :cat:Andi

Mawkus ,where for art thou?

What do you mean?

I meant did you ever get an ID on your cool stirrup?

No I sure didn't. Not even close.

Mawkus.............set yourself up a small electrolysis tub and run your stirrup in it for a bit. I bet it would clean up beautifully. Send me a PM if you would like info how to set one up inexpensively. Great find!
