Is it real?

I never thought I would find one of these! I found it on a beach about 8 inches down and clay. The face looks a little odd but I am buried in the clay for a long time. What do you guys think?

What's the diameter on it? Looks like it may have been mashed a bit and spread slightly. Maybe got hammered?
