Is it real?

I never thought I would find one of these! I found it on a beach about 8 inches down and clay. The face looks a little odd but I am buried in the clay for a long time. What do you guys think?

Welcome to tnet.. I think it's a 1843 large cent that someone carved on to make her look like that.... very cool find.. like trench art!

I don't think it is the real deal. Compared to another 1843 large cent, the nose and chin are too long, Also the date on a good one is almost centered on the lower left side of the bust. It may have been counterfeit. It would still be a cool find.

Congrats - yes real - hit that area hard and slow - that is how they come out a lot of the times from beach
these are as found from salt water spot
