So I have a dime my dad found a while back. When he found it I thought it was much more shiny than a regular dime, but thought I could read 2003/2005 on it so we threw it in a jar. I just went through the jar to count the change and saw the dime right away. It stuck out greatly compared to the rest. It definitely looks silver, and it has a good bit of light green patina on it. I can't upload any pictures yet, but I will if needed. Can clad coins turn green like this? I thought the green might be a sure giveaway to it's composition.
About the only number on it that I can make out is a 3 at the end. If it's silver it must be '63. Any ideas on how I can clean it to get a better look? I've only tried running it through water and a toothbrush.
Thanks
